How we learnt to stay safe with St John's

Today we had a lesson with Nikoli from St John's. She was here to talk about how we can can prevent injuries in a range of places.

We learnt...

  • how to identify risk and use safe practices in a range of places
  • how to contribute to and use simple guidelines and practices that promote physically and socially healthy classrooms, schools, and local environments
  • to understand that people have social, cultural, and economic roles, rights, and responsibilities
  • to understand how people make choices to meet their needs and wants

Our trip to Gallagher farm

We went on a great trip to Gallagher Farm. We did lots of pre-learning around our CHANGE inquiry. We learnt a lot of things that has helped us with our writing, reading and inquiry!

We learnt:

  • What cows eat
  • About calves
  • Parts of the farm
  • How and when cows are milked
  • How milk is stored and sent to milk factories
  • What they do with the cow poop
When we got back to school this helped us in our understanding of 'grass to glass' - how grass is turned into milk and we did some amazing writing about this.

Check out our pictures of the day we had at the farm and keep an eye out for lots more learning around what we did at Gallagher Farm.

One fish - maths!

We were learning the best way to count this group of counters! We learnt that skip counting was the best way and we can skip count in 2s, 5s and 10s. This helps us to solve our times tables!
